We had so much fun working with Natalie and Joel to coordinate their navy and burgundy sunflower wedding at Mission Inn! I feel like I’m constantly saying this, but they were so sweet and just plain fun! I really do have the best clients in the whole wide world. 🙂
Instead of doing a traditional first look, the two met in the beautiful Plaza de las Palmas, held hands with their backs towards each other and read love notes. It was such a beautiful moment!
With it being a Summer wedding, we ended up running into some rain, but even with it, we still made their outdoor garden wedding at Mission Inn happen! We started the ceremony about 15 minutes early and watched as the rain clouds rolled in. Honestly, the clouds made for epic pictures and we made it through the ceremony without a drop! Woohoo! It wasn’t until about 20 minutes after that it started raining, but it was ok at that point because we had made the outdoor ceremony happen and we had a plan B for cocktail hour.
Natalie looked absolutely gorgeous and I was obsessed with her flower crown! Joel looked dapper in his navy suit too. There was a little hiccup with his shoes actually, but we made the best of it! Children’s sized shoes were accidentally sent, but with Joel’s last name being Shoemaker and their hashtag being #IfTheShoeFits, it honestly was funny! Literally – if the shoe fits…and they sent the wrong size. Luckily one of the groomsmen had a backup pair!
The newlyweds were able to get some beautiful pictures around property before the danced the night away. Their reception was beautiful with gold and burgundy accents. They DIY’d their centerpieces and they turned out super cute. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing and enjoying donuts! Yes – donuts! Instead of a traditional cake, there was a donut display. YUM!
Natalie and Joel took nighttime photos outside in the plaza, which is one of my favorite things. It’s just so pretty with the market lights! The pictures turned out so awesome!!
Natalie and Joel, y’all are amazing. it was so wonderful working with you and I wish you all the best!!
“Katie and her team at Big Day Celebrations were nothing short of phenomenal. From the first phone call where my now wife and I met her, we could sense the positive energy she would deliver during our time working together. She told us when we first met that her goal was to make our big day as stress-free as possible. Not only did she succeed at this, she exceeded our wildest expectations of how great our wedding could be. During the planning stages before the big day, she was incredibly fast in email responses, never letting us wait very long. Her accessibility throughout was incredible. You can truly tell she’s a pro, as many questions as we asked, she never once didn’t have an answer for us.
When it came to the big day, Katie had a detailed itinerary for everyone. She had contacted each and every one of our vendors and orchestrated the appropriate times for them to arrive. I had no doubt that she had done everything possible to make everyone’s day, including vendors as stress-free and efficient as possible.
About an hour prior to the scheduled ceremony start time, we had some bad weather approaching. Katie was able to bump everything up 15 minutes so we were able to get the ceremony in just in time before the rain came, ensuring we could have it outside. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Katie did a rain dance to keep the rain away, she’s truly that amazing! I must say the icing on the cake was when my wife and I returned to our room after the reception was over. There was a nicely framed photo of us taken at the ceremony, a lovely surprise. It truly was an amazing gesture.
I can’t recommend Katie and Big Day Celebrations enough. It was an incredible value as well. She’s incredibly gifted at what she does, and our day would not have been the same without her. I literally told her after the reception that I couldn’t wait to write her the most positive review, because she truly made our big day just so perfect, we couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
