Melyssa and Michael’s dusty blue lakeside wedding was nothing short of beautiful! It was such an honor to be a part of it all.
Melyssa and I were introduced by a friend well over a year ago. When we met for coffee, she had a general idea of what she wanted her big day to be like, but hadn’t found a venue yet. Once she told me she wanted to get married on a lake, I knew that the Lake Mary Events Center would be perfect for her big day! One of the best things about this lakeside venue is that if the weather doesn’t feel like cooperating, the backup plan is just as gorgeous! After Melyssa and Michael toured, they knew this was the location they wanted to say “I do.” They got their June wedding date locked in and the planning started!
Since they had quite a bit of time to plan, they were able to lock in some of the best vendors in the Central Florida area. Having a wonderful team on wedding day makes all the difference, especially if they have worked together before! Melyssa wanted to keep things simple and she did just that. Her dusty blue lakeside wedding was accented with colors of green and white.
One of their biggest requests was to incorporate their doggies somehow, some way. We tossed around the idea of incorporating them during the ceremony, but in the end they decided to just bring them out for a few pictures before the ceremony. This was one of my favorite parts! After the first look, the pups were brought out back, given their own little floral piece for their collar and then took lots of pictures with mom and dad! They did such a good job and the pictures turned out so stinking adorable!
The aisle chairs were lined with a cluster of hanging greenery and two white pillars were topped with an arrangement of dusty blue hydrangea, white roses and greenery anchored the alter area. It was so pretty, yet so simple. About 45 minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to start, Mother Nature decided to send us a little rain shower. I had been watching the radar all morning, just hoping it wouldn’t hit us, but unfortunately it did. Luckily like I said before, the backup space at the Lake Mary Events Center is just as beautiful as the lawn out by the lake. Not to mention we got to knock out pretty much all of the formal photos before it started to rain!
We were able to quickly set up the ceremony inside the Rotunda (thank you to the guys at the Lake Mary Events Center) and open the curtains so Melyssa still got that dusty blue lakeside wedding she dreamed of. With the windows being floor to ceiling in the Rotunda, the amount of natural light is just perfect and the view of the lake is stunning! Melyssa and Michael had the most beautiful ceremony; it really was perfect!
We moved the columns and arrangements to the stage where the sweetheart table was and put one on each side of it. Since I love to re-use floral whenever possible, I came up with the idea to tie the chair clusters together to create a garland for the sweetheart table. It turned out pretty cool and gave the sweetheart table a little added color and texture and also made the Mr. and Mrs. letters pop!
Their reception was gorgeous and it really is amazing what a difference changing out the chairs and adding a colored napkin can do. Melyssa chose French Country Chairs which are my all-time favorite chairs. Those paired with the alternating centerpieces of floating candles with a greenery wreath and bubble bowls with hydrangea and roses, made for such a dainty look. It was perfect. Instead of doing just a wedding cake, they also incorporated an assortment of mini desserts! Mini pies and funfetti whoppie pies were the perfect accent to their combed buttercream wedding cake!
After a delicious buffet dinner, they snuck out for a few sunset photos because the rain had stopped. It was the perfect sunset! Once they got back inside, it was party time. Guests enjoyed lots of dancing and the mirror photobooth! At the end of the night, the newlyweds decided to do a private last dance. and this is something I already recommend to my couples. It is one last change to soak it all in, just the two of you. As guests exited the ballroom, they were greeted with a table filled with pie pops and then handed a sparkler for the grand exit. The night ended with a grand sparkler exit and they lived happily ever after!
I had so much fun working with Melyssa and Michael. They were the sweetest and so down to earth. I’m so happy for the new Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson and I wish them all the best! Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day!
