The predominant trending theme of weddings going into 2023 is, without a doubt, creating a day that embodies who you both are and reflects your relationship. Many ways that couples are accomplishing this is with custom itineraries of events for their big day, incorporating fun design elements such as pops of colorful floral and decor, and finding ways to tie in what matters to them. From a colorful wedding to an organic one, the most important design element is the one that feels natural to you.
This is a theme we are particularly fond of as wedding days are meant to be a display of who you are and a reminder of what the day is for…. Your love! While it can be overwhelming to navigate the pressures of staying trendy with the newest wedding fads, keep in mind that having a wedding day that feels like a continuation of your styles and personalities is a trend that never goes out of style.
In today’s post, we’re going to explore how Jess and Preston did just that with a weekend full of cozy family events surrounded by their loved ones while tying in colorful wedding elements with a mid-century modern touch.
To start off their event itinerary, Jess and Preston opted for a cozy, family-style backyard BBQ to act as their rehearsal dinner and a gathering for all of their loved ones the day before. With our help, they were able to create a casual celebration that set the stage for their colorful wedding with vintage “home-grown” elements. To make matters even more inviting, they brought in catering from Piggyback BBQ for all to enjoy carefreely! Talk about adding the right amount of personalization and ease to begin their wedding events on the right note.
The wonderful things about creating a time in your event itinerary for your family and friends to gather with you beforehand include helping to ease the nerves of the day to come, practicing crucial moments to ensure everyone is on the same page, and just having fun!
Special pre- and post-events to add to the timeline can be as informal as you choose. While most think of the classic rehearsal dinner, there is a medley of options you can choose from when it comes to customizing your plans. Some that have gained popularity in recent times include welcome parties, pre-wedding day cocktail hour, informal receptions the night before, farewell brunches, and activity days such as a farewell hike or park day! The possibilities are truly endless in ways to extend your special day into a multi-day event filled with memories.
What’s the first image that comes to mind when we discuss a wedding? The ceremony! Ceremonies are typically where your wedding vision jumps when it comes to thinking of where to start incorporating your style.
For Jess and Preston, it was a no-brainer to make the stunning mountain backdrop of Glacier Raft Co. the star of the show when it came to decor for their ceremony. To add the most unique touch, they added a half-eternity ring of colorful spring flowers to surround them at the altar, giving them the perfect amount of natural color to compliment their mid-century modern feel attire of deep blues and lacey touches.
Equally important as one could argue to a wedding ceremony is the reception! Receptions allow you the space to bring your vision to life with centerpieces, table decor, linens, furniture, backdrops, place settings, and more.
Jess and Preston decided to display their colorful styles with mid-century modern touches in every decor choice they made. Straying from the typical settings, they chose to utilize long king-style tables to include all of their loved ones in large groups. To highlight these, the use of elegant cream-colored runners beneath colorful spring floral arrangements ran from end to end. This coupled with the eclectic design of plates and napkins helped to give a classic, elegant layout an approachable, homey feel.
Our personal favorites of their unique elements include their amber ornate glasses that were unique to every place setting along with the vintage furniture and decor pieces around the room such as the record player and old suitcases!
The breathtaking mountain backdrop again with their carefully chosen colorful wedding elements and the hint of mid-century modern flair really came together to embody a day that was perfectly Jess and Preston.
One of our biggest mottos here is all about having your cake and eating it too. To us, this means getting to include all the parts of having a wedding that brings you joy! One of those parts that we’re well known for is having an adventure photo session. With the views of Glacier National Park so near, we never stand up a chance to get those dreamy shots that belong on every magazine cover out there.
Jess and Preston also couldn’t lose the opportunity and decided to close out their colorful wedding event with an adventure session for ethereal newlywed portraits. A magical ending to a perfect day!
Jess and Preston, working with you and your family was an absolute treat! It was so incredibly special getting to witness your family coming together and I wish you all many years of joy, laughter, and happiness to come! All the best!
