Ashley and Brett’s big day was quite honestly the perfect Casa Feliz Wedding. Not only they were the sweetest people on the planet, they had every detail planned perfectly – even down to the colors which matched the house beautifully!
Ashley and Brett met in high school and became acquainted playing frisbee. (How cute, right?) Was it love at first sight? Well, here is what Ashley had to say about that – “Unfortunately no! When we met, I had no idea that he was interested in me. About 6 years later, he reached out to me to reconnect prior to his deployment to Iraq. We actually started dating while he was on deployment. Our first date was a Skype date. We’d call, he’d wait up for me -we got very good at telling time in each other’s time zone. We kept making plans for when we could be together in person! In fact, we even avoided telling one another that we loved each other until we were reunited after deployment.” I mean – swoon! How romantic is this story?
Now on to the proposal – tell us all about it, Ashley! “Sweet and simple. Since he’s in the army, we maintained our LDR by seeing each other monthly. The first night of our April 2016 visit, he asked me to marry him after making me dinner. I have a few favorite moments from the evening. Particularly, his face when he peeped his head around the corner to find me stubbornly doing the dishes. He kept urging me to come over but I wanted to repay him for making me such a nice dinner!
I came over to him to find him sitting eagerly, uncomfortably on the couch. He scooped me up into a hug and started with “So I had a nice conversation with your dad this week…” and he got down on one knee to pop the question! I was so excited I said “yeah!” -very quickly. More like “Ashley, will you marry m-” “YEAH!”. He told me later that he wanted to celebrate the weekend with me engaged rather than waiting.” I love this on so many levels – Brett, you rock!
I asked Ashley what she was looking most forward to on the big day and I must say, she and I have lots in common, because – FIRST LOOK! “The First Look! I’m so excited to share a moment -just us- together to celebrate that we are about to merge our lives together. I love that we will be able to steal a moment just for us.”
Ashley’s dress was one of my all time favorites. I loved everything about it! It was perfect for her. How did she know it was the one? “When I looked at myself in the mirror, I was able to envision marrying Brett in it! That’s how I knew.” #allthefeels
Also, can we also talk about how PERFECT their color scheme was? I mean, it was made for Casa Feliz! Also, this is why I chose the title “A perfect Casa Feliz Wedding” for this post. “We chose to run with the Spanish Farmhouse vibe of Casa Feliz. It’s such a beautiful historic home -no need to fix or change anything that’s already so perfect! My big hang up was that I wanted our colors to compliment the beautiful Robin’s Egg colored shutters. And yes, we brought many paint chips to the house to find the perfect color palette against the shutters!” Paint chips for the win. You guys – it was seriously gorgeous. Just wait till you see pictures!
Ashley – “Our first look! After all the hustle and bustle of the morning, it was such a joy to see my future husband standing there waiting for me. I still choke up thinking about all the love that was in our embrace in that moment.
Plus, a lot of the wedding day is with family and friends, so I cherished the opportunity to be there with him and soak in the fact that we were about to be husband and wife.” (I called that one because don’t you recall from above that was the one thing she was most looking forward too?! Let’s not forget about the groom, Brett – “Standing at the alter watching Ashley walk down the aisle.” I love looking at the groom’s face when he sees her walking down the aisle! Even with a first look, that moment is so dang special!
Ok, now get some tissues because I just LOVE this. Ashley’s “favorite “decor” element was the game of croquet we included for our cocktail hour! It was from my late grandparents who used to pull it out at every family function or holiday growing up. With the croquet set on the lawn, we could include and honor them in spirit! It was touching to watch their great grandson play croquet at Brett’s and my wedding.” I mean how sweet is that?!?! Not to mention doing the first look meant they got to enjoy cocktail hour and enjoy the croquet set with their friends and family. I just love that so much.
Advice for anyone getting married? Here’s what Ashley had to say. “Please enjoy the process and relax as much as possible. It’s only one short day. Focus on the love you have for your forever partner and look forward to that awesome honeymoon!” I couldn’t agree more!! Enjoy. Don’t stress. Have fun!
Would you change anything? “Not a thing! We chose to have a more intimate wedding and it was the most challenging decision we made. It paid off because we had plenty of time to celebrate with our guests as well as with one another. Not every couple gets to say that!”
We are so happy for the newlyweds and wish them all the best! Congrats you two!

I loved Ashley’s gown! It was absolutely gorgeous! And so was her second dress. Yes, a second dress! Super cute, sparkly and easy to dance in! Plus the color-scheme was absolutely perfect for Casa Feliz! I mean, it couldn’t have gone more perfectly! And the lavender grand exit. So cute and it smelt wonderful! Oh AND! Flaming. S’mores. That is all. 🙂 It was the perfect Casa Feliz wedding!!

“Katie was the perfect fit for Brett’s and my wedding. Brides everywhere -she’s perfect. She was willing to go way above and beyond to make sure our day was smooth sailing and stress free. Even my husband (who was initially unsure about the necessity of a coordinator) said that she was “great” and the best vendor we hired. That compliment really says it all coming from him. Katie makes you feel like a true friend and our coffee date prepping for the big day was my favorite part of the planning process. She’s genuine, affordable, and just fantastic. We were blessed with her! Thank you Katie!!!!”
