While we love bold and bright colors for a wedding color palette, neutral shades also have our hearts! We are often inspired by the Montana landscape when designing a wedding. Luckily, Glacier National Park offers so much variety to draw from. From its colorful wildflowers in the summertime to the lush forestry to the riverbanks, there is an endless well of inspiration and possibilities for a wedding color palette and design.
For Ashley and Erik’s intimate wedding at Great Northern Resort, we started with neutral hues like whites, creams, and greens. We then infused natural elements like rattan and wood to create a seamless wedding design that mimicked the natural beauty that surrounded us. The result was a neutral and visually dynamic intimate wedding, where the newlyweds and their guests dined in the glow of the setting sun. We even carved out space in the timeline for them to run away to Glacier National Park for a striking adventure session!
If you’re dreaming of a neutral wedding, intimate wedding, or boho wedding, you simply can’t miss this post! Check out how we achieved a timeless, neutral wedding aesthetic with boho accents for this lovely couple.
We started Ashley and Erik’s intimate wedding day off with a bang! While our team managed the setup in preparation for the day’s festivities, the nearlyweds held their first look at the venue before sneaking off to Glacier for an adventure session. We always recommend having an adventure photo session within Glacier because it gives you the most stunning and unique images that will last you two lifetimes! No matter in which season you have your wedding, Glacier is beautiful and offers so many different backdrops that you’ll want to get pictures in front of them all… and that’s exactly what Ashley and Erik did!
While this couple would look incredible in front of any backdrop, they absolutely glowed and radiated joy while frolicking through Glacier. Ashley rocked an off-the-shoulder lace gown with long sleeves and train that gave boho yet timeless vibes. Her bridal bouquet was soft and romantic with its creamy and neutral pink blooms. Erik looked classically handsome in his navy blue suit and matching tie with little floral details on it. The two of them were complete showstoppers that day!
In Glacier, they went from traipsing through the forest to discovering the best viewpoints of the mountains to exploring the lakeside, capturing amazing photos and having a whole lot of fun along the way! The best part is that we scheduled their adventure session prior to the ceremony while setup was still occurring, so they didn’t have to miss out on time with their family and friends. We completely maximized their intimate wedding day to include everything they wanted and more!
When Ashley and Erik returned to the resort, our team ushered them into the reception space for a grand reveal and a moment alone before the ceremony. There, they found the most charming dining setup!
We had set a long, wooden farm table amongst the trees with a cream, lace runner down the center. We scattered beautiful bud vases, taper candles, and gold votives on top of the runner and set a natural weave charger at each place setting. A white linen napkin with a knot tie and gold flatware accentuated this. Not to mention the custom menu cards! Ashley and Erik’s dogs unfortunately couldn’t make it to their intimate wedding, but that didn’t mean that they were excluded from the festivities! Each menu card featured a custom watercolor drawing of their furry friends, Zoe and Kip. We showcased a larger version of this print by the cake table to truly make their presence known. It was a sweet way to include them in this intimate wedding day!
Speaking of the cake, Ashley and Erik’s was simple and elegant! A classic one-tier, it featured mountain details etched into the buttercream and we topped it with fresh, neutral florals. We set the cake underneath the resort’s canvas tent on a vintage oval table with ivory gauze runner. We love this spot for a cake display because it provides shade from the sun and allows the cake to be a showpiece at the reception!
Then, it was time to get married! Ashley and Erik’s intimate wedding ceremony took place adjacent to the reception space in the Ceremony Meadow. Erik escorted his mom down the stone steps that led into the ceremony site and then took his place underneath the square wooden arch with a neutral floral accent. From there, he watched his gorgeous bride walk down the aisle to an instrumental version of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
The day was clear and as beautiful as could be! Soft sunlight filtered through the clouds and trees to shine on this intimate wedding. With the forest trees behind them, Ashley and Erik said “I do” to their forever as 9 of their closest people looked on.
After exchanging personalized vows, Ashley and Erik became husband and wife and shared their first married kiss! They recessed back up the aisle to “2 Become 1,” basking in the fact that they did it!
While formal family photos took place, everyone munched on the charcuterie grazing board and then took their seats for dinner. One of our favorite parts of an intimate wedding is seeing the happy couple savor every moment with their loved ones. With an intimate wedding, they get to maximize time with each person in attendance. Witnessing the love they share is unbeatable!
After a lovely plated meal of beef, salmon, and roasted vegetables, the newlyweds cut their sweetheart cake. Our team assisted them with this and after they rejoined their family, we cut and served the cake. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream, and unsurprisingly, it was a hit!
Throughout the rest of the evening, everyone ate, drank, and simply enjoyed one another’s company. It was an incredible day and one that nobody will soon forget!
Ashley and Erik, your intimate wedding was SO beautiful and I loved every minute! Your neutral wedding design is one of my absolute favorites ever! I want to thank you for being so sweet throughout the entire process! Getting to know the both of you is truly the cherry on top of a wonderful planning experience and I wish you two all the love and joy in the world! Hugs!
