When two kind, fun-loving people come together to celebrate their love in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth, you know it’s going to be magical! Sandra and Joe’s dusty blue wedding was nothing short of spectacular. It was a big day celebration that blended the best of Montana’s beauty with special, personal touches that made their day uniquely theirs. From the moment they exchanged vows surrounded by the towering peaks of Glacier National Park, to their final, private dance, every detail was thoughtfully curated.
Their dusty blue wedding beautifully demonstrates what it means to have your cake and eat it too! They got to have all the best parts of a Montana wedding: An awe-inspiring outdoor ceremony, an epic Glacier adventure session, a fun celebration with all their loved ones, and intentional, intimate moments throughout the day.
If you’re dreaming of a dusty blue wedding set in Big Sky Country that feels as free-spirited as it is elegant, this is your ultimate inspiration!
After you first get engaged, one of the first wedding planning steps you’ll tackle is deciding on your wedding colors and style. While you might be tempted to go with what’s trending or what your friends or family think is best, here at Big Day Celebrations, we always encourage you to stay true to yourself! It can be as simple as making your favorite color the primary color in your wedding palette!
This is exactly what Sandra and Joe did! From the start, they had a clear vision for their wedding colors: A soft, serene dusty blue wedding design paired with pops of bright, cheerful wildflowers.
“My fiancé and I both love the color blue, so it was as simple as that,” Sandra shared.
From there, the color flowed naturally into everything from the wedding party’s attire to the wedding décor. The soft blue tones created a calming atmosphere that complemented the stunning beauty of Glacier National Park. It also added a refined elegance to their celebration, especially paired with classic, airy tones like cream, gold, and natural greenery.
But while the dusty blue set the tone, the florals truly brought the design to life! We incorporated vibrant wildflowers throughout this dusty blue wedding, from Sandra’s bridal bouquet to the reception centerpieces. The bright oranges, pinks, and purples of the wildflowers popped against the dusty blue accents, creating a playful yet sophisticated visual contrast that captured the couple’s spirit perfectly.
On the day of this dusty blue wedding, Sandra and Joe chose to share a private moment together before the ceremony with their first look. That day, Sandra looked angelic in her strapless white wedding gown that had a simple front, but an exquisitely detailed train. The delicate lace flowed down the skirt and fanned out around her, giving an understated yet striking quality to the dress.
During the planning process for Sandra and Joe’s dusty blue wedding, we planned meaningful moments for just the two of them throughout the day. One of them was their first look, which doubled as a private vow exchange. This is the perfect way for couples who are shy or more private to share personal vows while still having a traditional ceremony with their family.
Following this special moment, the almost newlyweds made their way to West Glacier, which was only about 15 minutes down the road from their venue, Paddle Ridge. There, they explored the park while capturing incredible bride and groom photos. From the dreamy glacial blue of the lake to the lush green hills of the mountainside, the National Park provided multiple stunning backdrops for them.
After their Glacier adventure session, it was time for the highlight of the day: their dusty blue wedding ceremony! At this point in the day, it had actually started to sprinkle a bit; an unforeseen circumstance of the day that had the potential to put a damper on things. However, Sandra and Joe perfectly demonstrated that your attitude and spirit will determine how your wedding day goes, not the weather!
They were all smiles as we broke out a few umbrellas (our team is always prepared!), and had their outdoor ceremony set against the emerald forest trees and mystical mountains.
One of Sandra’s favorite moments of the day was when her mom escorted her down the aisle. Later on, she would describe the moment like:
“As my mom walked me down the aisle to the song I chose, I took in the view in front of me. The view of everyone looking up at me, my now husband giving off a huge smile, and the gorgeous background of Glacier National Park.”
It was perfect!
Sandra and Joe’s dusty blue wedding reception kicked off with high-energy introductions and a romantic first dance. They shared this to the tune of “Life With You” by Kelsey Hart. For this portion of the evening, Sandra threw on a white bridal denim jacket with pearl studs and white sunglasses: The second of her amazing bridal looks that day!
Then, everyone broke bread together and shared a Montana-inspired feast that included dishes like Grilled King Salmon, Grilled Top Sirloin, Potatoes a la Plancha and more.
Sandra’s final bridal look of this gorgeous day was her reception dress! This was a sleek, ivory dress with flowy short sleeves and triangular cutouts at the waist. It was the perfect thing for her to dance and celebrate in!
One of our team’s favorite moments of this dusty blue wedding reception was seeing Sandra and her mom share a special dance together. They swayed to “When God Made You My Mother” by Riley Roth and the bond between them was so special to witness.
After the wedding, Joe would tell us that his favorite moment of the reception occurred when the sun came out! Not only did the clouds part way to let the golden sunshine peek through, but there was a full-blown rainbow over the reception pavilion! It was a magical moment, as if Mother Nature was reflecting Sandra and Joe’s love back at them.
Now that she’s a newlywed, we asked Sandra, “What piece of advice would you give to couples planning their wedding?” Here’s what she said:
“My advice is to plan your wedding the way you imagine it to be! Don’t let other people’s opinions or suggestions get in the way of planning your dream wedding. At the end of the day, it’s about you and your significant other.
Another piece of advice is to be laid back and relaxed. There are a million little details that go into the wedding, so don’t fixate on getting everything perfect. It will all piece together and be perfect no matter what.”
We couldn’t agree more!
Sandra & Joe, your dusty blue wedding was downright gorgeous! Thanks for being simply the best to work with throughout the planning process! I love how you two didn’t let a few raindrops stop you from having your perfect day and that the sun eventually came out for you guys! Wishing you both the absolute best!
