Emily and Lance had the sweetest, romantic wedding in the mountains, and I couldn’t feel luckier to have been a part of it! These two lovebirds knew that they wanted to have a mountainside wedding near Glacier National Park with their closest friends and family, so that’s what we did! They had a gorgeous intimate wedding in the mountains at Great Northern Resort with dusty rose and gold accents, pops of fuchsia, and thoughtfully placed pampas grass sprays to give the celebration just a hint of boho vibes.

Emily and Lance chose to have a first look before their wedding ceremony. Have I mentioned that I am a big fan of first looks? Not only do you get a private and intimate moment with your soon-to-be spouse, but you can also knock out so many photos before the wedding, so that once the festivities begin, you are free to relax and spend time with your loved ones. Emily and Lance’s first look took place amongst the mountain trees as the prettiest sunlight filtered through the branches. Just check out the smiles on their faces as they saw each other all dressed up and it sunk in that they were really getting married that day. Best feeling ever!
Great Northern Resort is located just 2 short miles away from Glacier National Park, which meant that after their first look, Emily and Lance could quickly and easily hop on over to the park and get some breathtaking couples’ portraits (seriously, SO beautiful as you can see below!). One thing I love about my brides is that they are not afraid to strap on their hiking boots to get to the most spectacular photo spots in the mountains. Even with a little bit of a hike, it’s worth it every single time! Glacier especially is great for portraits because it has a wide variety of landscapes, from the mountaintops and waterfront to the forest trees and grassy meadows (for a full breakdown on where to get married in Glacier National Park, click HERE to read our other post). 11/10 would recommend!
My favorite part about this couple’s many awe-inspiring wedding photos is that they not only showcase just how in love they are, but they also feature the dress so beautifully. We need to talk about Emily’s dress for a second because it was absolutely stunning! Part of the Blush by Hayley Paige collection, the dress was all-over lace with a subtle sparkle when the gown caught the light. Emily even added a personal touch of her own by adding long sleeves.
Here’s a pro tip for all my sleeve-loving brides out there: You don’t have to choose a dress that already has sleeves. Pick the dress that you love and when you buy it, purchase extra material from the designer, so you can have a professional seamstress add the sleeves later on. By buying the fabric straight from the designer, you can make sure that the sleeves will go seamlessly with the rest of the dress!
I love when brides customize their dress to make it one-of-a-kind, just like they are! With a simple white veil, Emily’s wedding day look was such a beautiful blend of modern and bohemian, just perfect for this wedding!
When it was time to get married, we made our way to the Ceremony Meadow at the resort, where we set up a beautiful, wooden cross at the altar with greenery, white blooms, and pampas grass. We placed custom programs featuring Emily and Lance’s fur baby on each seat and the couple even had special “Best Day Ever” bags made for their guests. I truly believe that personalized little details like these make all the difference! The ceremony itself was short and sweet, and Emily and Lance even read their own custom vows to each other. So cute!
Initially, we had planned for the reception to take place in the same meadow as the ceremony, but with rain in the forecast for that night, we thought it was best to move the party under the tent. That’s the thing about Great Northern Resort though: their plan Bs are just as amazing as their plan As! The tent was so dreamy with twinkle lights woven throughout the ceiling and the sides were still open air, allowing guests to take in the fresh mountain air and the surrounding trees from the forest.
We repurposed the floral spray from the ceremony cross to Emily and Lance’s sweetheart table and we decorated the two long guest tables with ivory gauze table runners, dusty rose and white floral garlands and the cutest Italian Jordan almond favors at each place setting. The couple also gifted their guests mini, personalized candles as an extra thank you! I just loved how thoughtful Emily and Lance were in selecting all the details of their day. They were so sweet to think of their guests every step of the way!
And I can’t talk about the reception without including the cake! It was a 2-tier citrus poppyseed cake with raspberry filling. Can you say yum?! We went with a naked cake design and added pink and white floral accents to it for pops of color. It was lovely and elegant, and most importantly, a huge hit!
The best part about the reception space though? There was still plenty of room for everyone to play cornhole! It’s Emily and Lance’s favorite lawn game and Emily said it best when she said, “Everyone loves cornhole!” She couldn’t be more right and it just made their wedding in the mountains that much more fun!
“I literally wouldn’t change a single thing about the day. 100% find a wedding planner, ideally Katie! She handled everything and made it better than my imagination.”
Emily and Lance’s big day really was the most romantic wedding in the mountains! It was a joy to work with them from beginning to end. I was truly honored to have been a part of this sweet couple’s celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd, I wish you all the happiness in the world! Congratulations!
