Most couples understand the importance of choosing the right color palette for their wedding design, but sometimes, they underestimate the significance of infusing personal details as well. The unique design elements that showcase a couple’s personality give the wedding their own signature stamp. This marks it as no one else’s but theirs. Mira and Kevin perfected this in their bohemian wedding at Glacier Sound Healing Center last July. They drew inspiration from their affinity for botanicals to handcraft a bohemian wedding that was a beautiful tribute to their relationship.
This wedding story consists of tons of bohemian wedding inspiration and ways to personalize your own wedding! Make sure to read until the end to find out how you can also pull off a customized wedding, like Mira and Kevin’s!
Mira and Kevin found their perfect venue in Glacier Sound Healing Center, located in Columbia Falls, Montana. In the venue’s own words, they are a “gathering place for collective healing and a safe place for individual healing.” This means that they help people work through physical aches as well as emotional pains. Their goal is to guide people to become the best versions of themselves. I love that!
For weddings, they have a lovely outdoor ceremony site tucked within the forest trees. Their reception space is both indoors and outdoors, so everyone can dine under the tent and then dance underneath the sky!
Plus, their property in general is just stunning! The forest, flowery meadows, and the lush lawn area all make great backdrops for wedding photos, offering a great variety and tons of beauty. As an added bonus, they even have alpacas onsite!
This could not have been a more ideal setting for the bohemian wedding that Mira and Kevin envisioned when they first came to me. In their own lives, this couple actively works toward the personal growth that Glacier Sound strives for, so this was a great fit!
From Mira’s attire to the reception décor, this wedding was filled with spectacular bohemian details! Mira’s wedding gown had a lace bodice and long sleeves with a flowing skirt. She paired it with sandals that had white flower straps. These not only fit the theme, but were also comfortable: a true win-win!
The ceremony backdrop was a macrame arch, accented with orange and red flowers. We also set out wooden folding chairs for the guests and a white aisle runner to pave the way.
At the cocktail hour, we set succulents as centerpieces for the cocktail tables. We also scattered a variety of lawn games to encourage a casual and fun atmosphere. The bar menu featured at the cocktail hour incorporated Mira and Kevin’s favorite libations, including a refreshing ginger limeade and kombucha. Lastly, to lead guests into the reception, the seating chart outlined which herb their table was named after.
With reception table names like “Sage” and “Thyme,” Mira and Kevin showcased their love of botanicals and cooking. We set a pot of each individual herb on the respective tables in addition to a couple of bud vases and succulent accents. We also hung the cutest “Mr. and Mrs.” macrame signs on the backs of Mira and Kevin’s chairs at their sweetheart table. Once the ceremony was over, we repurposed the greenery and floral from the ceremony arch to the bride and groom’s table as well.
Mira and Kevin also brought a few extra vases for extra bouquets to be placed around the reception area, as needed. This was a great idea that helped give tables, like the dessert display, an extra pop of color!
All of these details helped give this bohemian wedding the botanical inspirations that the couple was originally aiming for. We carefully thought out and seamlessly incorporated every decor details, making for a gorgeous wedding every step of the way!
On the day of Mira and Kevin’s bohemian wedding, they chose to forgo a first look and see each other for the first time as Mira walked down the aisle. A trio of the most adorable flower girls and even Mira and Kevin’s fur baby preceded her arrival into the ceremony! It was so special for them to have their dog be the “ring bearer” and be present at their ceremony. Not to mention he was a huge hit with the guests!
When it was Mira’s turn to walk down the aisle, she was simply radiant! Although her bouquet contained bright summer hues like orange, red, purple, and blue, her smile said it all.
The ceremony began with a reading and welcome, but my favorite part to witness was the tree planting they did as the unity ceremony. For those who may not be familiar with a unity ceremony, it is an act within the wedding ceremony that symbolizes the union of the couple in marriage. This could mean each partner lighting a candle and using those to light a larger candle together. This could also look like each partner pouring two different colors of sand into a larger vase, so that all the sand combines. A unity ceremony is a fantastic way for a couple to highlight their personalities. For Mira and Kevin, the best way to do that was to have a tree planting!
Together with their parents, they watered a sapling that they would later bring home to plant at their house. As time goes on, they can watch that tree grow and flourish, just as their love for each other will thrive in the years to come. SO sweet!
Once Mira and Kevin were pronounced husband and wife, it was time to celebrate! Guests broke for cocktail hour, where they played the lawn games and enjoyed the couple’s signature drinks. Mira took this time to change into her second dress, which was a sleek white gown with a lace accent at the slit. So simple but so perfect!
This bohemian wedding reception kicked off with a welcome vitality toast given by the newlyweds themselves! For this, we placed shot glasses on all the reception tables. After sweet words expressed by Mira and Kevin, everyone drank to life, love, and happiness together. I absolutely loved this unique detail that this couple chose to have! It was such a great way to personalize the reception and incorporate their personal tastes!
Then, it was time to eat! We created the dinner menu to reflect the bride and groom’s preferences and values, meaning that the food was all locally sourced, organic, and vegan. Starting with the mixed greens salad with cilantro lime dressing all the way to the chocolate coconut cupcakes served for dessert, it was all incredibly fresh and delicious!
Mira, Kevin, and their loved ones spent the rest of the evening toasting, dancing, and playing more games. There were so many smiles and laughs that night that everyone departed with their hearts so full, including me!
Mira & Kevin, I’ll never forget you and your beautiful bohemian wedding! It was a joy to be a part of from beginning to end. I wish you both all the love and happiness this world has to offer! You two deserve it! Congrats!
